Project Aims and Mission
The main mission of the TranslitCenter project is to provide reliable, well-structured, and practical information about transliteration and transcription systems for different European languages, as well as to create easy-to-use digital tools for automatic conversion of texts between various writing standards.
The project is designed for users who need transliteration tables, rules for writing names and place names, official writing standards, and online converters for working with texts in European and other languages.
One of the project’s goals is to develop and support converters for different language pairs, even in cases where official or widely used solutions do not exist or are not standardised enough. When creating algorithms, existing linguistic practices, national recommendations, and writing system features are taken into account.
The project also develops a reference section with extra materials, including PDF tables, linguistic guides, dictionaries, technical tools for text processing, and analytical materials on topics such as transliteration, localisation, and international data transfer.
TranslitCenter is an independent international information and technology project. It is not connected to government agencies, consulates, or commercial organisations that use their own transliteration systems.
Methodology and Principles for Preparing Materials
All materials and tools on the project are prepared following principles of accuracy, transparency, and consistency. Priority is given to official sources and widely recognised international standards for transliteration and transcription.
Sources include official government documents, consular recommendations, materials from linguistic institutes and academic organisations, as well as international standards and regulatory systems, such as ISO 9, DIN 1460, GOST 7.79, and other formats used for transferring writing between languages.
If there are no unified official standards, the project uses comparative analysis of existing practices, linguistic recommendations, and common ways of writing. For some language pairs, custom conversion schemes may be developed to ensure data consistency and technical compatibility.
The project’s online converters and API services are developed with attention to different alphabets, diacritical marks, national writing variants, and requirements for text processing in international information systems.
Information and analytical materials are checked by an editor before being published. The project supports multilingual content and regularly updates its data when standards, writing rules or official recommendations change.

Authorship and Content Responsibility
The project leader — Anton Selyunin — is responsible for the development of the project, preparation methodology, and operation of technical services.
The project leader has many years of experience in developing internet platforms, web services, APIs, and data processing systems. In this project, practical experience in creating multilingual resources, text processing, and designing high-load web applications is used.
The technical and organisational work of the project is carried out by an international team of specialists based in Germany who work in programming, databases, web development, and digital services.
